Local boy Rakesh Kumar Nayak emerged champion in the 22nd Bhubaneswar Schol Chess Tournament, which concluded at the Secretariat Recreatin Club here on Tuesday.
A student of Nilakantheswar Ideal School, Nayak topped the final standings with nine points from as many rounds. Soumya Ranjan Das (DAV School, Cuttack) finished runner-up with 7.5 points.
Altogether 122 students participated in the three-day tournament which was conducted by Bhubaneswar Chess Association.
